SCL Health, delivering health care throughout Colorado, Kansas and Montana

Achieve Data Visualization through Staff Training

SCL Health is a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization offering comprehensive, coordinated care through multiple care settings, including hospitals, physician clinics, home healthcare, hospice, mental healthcare, and safety-net services in Colorado, Kansas, and Montana.

The AHIMA award committee selected SCL Health for its implementation of several innovative programs, most notably, the development of a team of data scientists as part of a data visualization effort. Across the organization, the HIM team set benchmarks for the “meaningful use” of EHRs through an Incentivized Data Governance Program. What’s more, the creation and chairing of an interdisciplinary health data advisory committee helped to promote enterprise-wide data stewardship and organizational literacy. Finally, SCL Health was the first to offer Colorado patients immediate access to their provider through physician video visits.

Net, SCL Health’s evolution toward sophisticated analytics and governance programs positively affected patient outcomes for the better.
